2024 Kings Birthday Honours List Announced
34 Australians Recognised for Their Contributions
Hundreds of Australians have been named in the 2024 Kings Birthday Honours List, with 34 recognised for their contributions in support of various causes.
The list, published in a special Gazette supplement in June 2024, includes appointments by some of the 15 Commonwealth realms. Among the recipients are former long-serving Labor premiers Daniel Andrews and Bob Carr, who were both awarded the Order of Australia for their service to the community.
This year's list also includes a number of people who have made significant contributions to the arts, science, and business sectors. For example, actor Cate Blanchett was awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia for her services to the performing arts, while Nobel Prize-winning scientist Brian Schmidt was awarded the Knight Commander of the Order of Australia for his work in astrophysics.
